WIPRO PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 10 MAR 2006 - NOIDAHello Chetanaites Guys I want to share my experience of WIPRO TECH Banglore which came for recruitment in NIET, Greater Noida (UP) on 10th March 2006 Usual Process, first written test, technical interviewand finally HR interview. More than 20 colleges were invited.Around 1000-1200 students appeared out of which around 300 qualified for technical interview, out of which around 150 appeared in HR Interview. Finally 80-100 students got the WIPRO TAG. I was Selected in WRITTEN TEST, had cleared the TECHNICAL Interview but was unable to clear the HR round (I feel bad after the results for two days but soon I analyses where I went wrong in the final stage) ------------------------------------WRITTEN TEST--------------------------------------------------- Total Quest: 50 objectives (No Negative)Time alloted: 60 MinsTimings: 12:30 - 01:30pm VERBAL: 15 ques Comments: English test Was Normal. Simple Synonyms-Antonyms(2 quest)2 quest on arrangement of jumbled sentences. few quest was really tough but who says to trouble your mind on every quest. APTITUDE: 15 quesComments: Normal Aptitude questions, i cant tell you the specific books as i had not prepared like that. TECHNICAL: 20 quesComments: Questions were based on the subjects of CS Branch. Like C language programs output, theoretical questions on Binary Tree (around 3-4)questions based on Unix, Operating Systems etc.I am from EC branch, but still i was able to solve around 8-10 questions correctly._________________________________________________________________Results declared at 5:00 Pm. Students from outside Noida Colleges wereto interviewed first so i was in the first interview list.Timings: 9:30 pm and last for around 30 mins---------------------------------------Technical Interview-------------------------------------------- Single Panel Member, in all 14 Panels were there.My Panel mem was a cool young guy(age around 25). My entry. Granted permission to sit.He took my Resume & started his Pistol of questions.Q. tell me about yourselfQ. tell me about your family background Q. Directly looking on to my resume he asked me that why personality development is necessary for one as i mentioned my interest in books of Personality development?Me:I ans that a nurtured and cherished Personality have an effect on everyone and a company finds it easy to mould that personality according to their requirements.(he was convinced) Q. Why unix is not much famous in India. ( I said about the rare availability)Q. Do u know C language? Me: I know it as it was in our curriculum in 1st sem but now i m not in touch of this language.Q. What is the output of this Program?(A prog of pointer was written on a paper) (Pointing to that prog he said that the same question was asked in his first interview)Me: I will try my level best to solve it. ( But i was unable to solve that)Q. What is your most favourite subject in EC?Me: Sir, I like Digital Electronics.Q. Tell me your 2nd most favourite?Me: I like Computer languages like C.Q. Can you implement NAND gate with NOR gate?Me: Sure sir, I did it in less than a minute.Q. Lets check your circuit?Me: fine sirHe started checking and made some mistakes, then he ask me to correctthose. I did it very well by correcting the Truth Tables what he had made.The circuit was perfectly alright.(He said to me that you are a circuit master)Q. I was placed in Wipro.On Aug 7th Wipro visted our campus (Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Hyderabad). This was the first time Wipro came to our college.The selection procedure was like thisPPT started at 10:15 am. Written test at 11:00Pattern was same as previousVerbal 15Analytical 15Technical 20no negative markingPrevious questions were not repeated. If ur good at grammer in ur school level its enuf to clear Verbal.Analytical was really analytical as there were only 3 or 4 questions from quant. They were pretty easy. Rest all depends on ur talent.As I am from Electrical& Electronics I felt Technical very tuf. I knew only 4q's in tech that too from C. God was with me. So I got thru the written test.Suggestion for non CSE and it students is dat dont worry u can answer atleast 6 q's confidently in tech as there were some q's where u can eliminate 3 options in the first look itself.coming to the Tech InterviewWe were given only 10 minutes after the results of the written test were announced.I was the 3rd to my pannel and was the first to be selected by him.he: give me ur resumeme: gave him the resumehe: tell me abt ur selfme: I was prepared for it.i gave the answer promptly. I couldnt maintain eye contact initialy but i could manage it.he: wat do u kno in Cme: basicshe: C++?me: no. and told him the reason y i didnt learn them outside. its always better to substantiate such things with a reason.he: wat is a datatypeme: gave the answerhe: asked something on linked list.me: I couldnt hear him. so i told him i donnohe: wats the difference bet ms office xp and 2003me: (i wrote tat in my computer skills) i told him we use only the basic features of ms office. may be there r some internet related features in 2003 which r not there in xp.the real difference is dat office xp runs in win 98, 2000, and win xp. but 2003 runs only on win xp and win 2000 with servicepack.he: narrated a big passage. the gist was that whether a file created in office 2003 be opened in office xp.me: yes sir it can be without a problemhe: r u sure me: yes sir. i tol him our college has xp and i have 2003 and we often transfer documents.he: any questions?me: asked him two questions related to technical only. dat was a plus point for me.he: then told me to wait outside and told that he will let me knome: thank u sir.he forwarded his hand and i did the same and gave a firm shake hand.within few min I was given a form for hr interview. It was very lengthy and almost took 20 min to fill. Within next 10 min after filling the form I was called for HR interview.Interviewer was a lady.she: tell me abt ur ur selfme: tol her same thin letter to letter as i tol in tech.this time eye contact was not at all a problemshe: (i told her something on my introspection in my intro) she asked gimme an incident as an example.me:i didnt expect her to ask it.but suddenly an incident flashed into my mind. it really happened in my first year.i told her dat.she: tell me abt ur familyme : told hershe: y didnt u get placed in CTS and TCS?me: (cts and tcs came to our college on 3rd of aug) I told her i didnt clear their written.she: wat did u learn from datme: I was not expecting dat but my mind was alert as I was not at all tensed. I told her tat donot fall for temptation from CTS and do not prepare more than ur caliber from TCS.she: why wipro?me: I was perpared for this question. i tol her three points abt wipro in which i gave her a hint tat i prefer working in south india.she: wat if i place u in gurgoan (wipro is there in gurgoan) me: no problem i will work there for a couple of years and take a transfer and come back to south.she: wat do u think abt ur college:me: told her all the good things which i knew abt our college (our college is really popular for its placements, thanks to ur placement officer). first i told her tat our college has good placements and good companies r coming and i also told tat Wipro is one such companyits always good to boost abt ur college though u dont like somethings in ur college describe those points in which ur college is different from other colleges.then she told me "ok u can leave"i told thank u and left.interviews for me were over by 4:15 pmI waited upto 8 :15 then results were announced and my name was there.Infact the hr was so easy tat all my friends who cleared tech got thru hr. Some of them were asked only one question: why wipro or why shu i hir u? and they were all selected. EEE students gave their best on tat day.My suggestion to those preparing for campus placements is dat, do not expect much before u get selected. Write the test as if ur writing ur internals. Be practical, be cool.Never never never loose in hr interview. So donot expect any questions tat u prepared for. Only two things will be looked for: they r confidence and eye contact and truth in ur answers. So donot bluff.Before u go for interview learn new things abt ur self which u dont kno and try to boost those in the interview and ur resumes. U kno ur self better than others. If u kno ur self better then u will kno wat to answer for wat.Believe in yr self, believe in god, believe in ur parents then u will definitely get thru the interview.(Paper Submitted By : Gautham)Placement TipsThree sections: u have to clear each section separately 15-verbal,15-apti,20-technical time 50 minutes.verbal type :word pair, analogy,fill in the blanks with appropriate wordsApti type:people,n chairs/chambers/parking etc all questions of this type and also a paragraph was given and the logical deduction was to be done.4 questions were common from barons Tech type:gk of computers(no programming language questions) 4 options for eachInterview was in 2 stages , technical was mainly concentrated on data structure and C .. DBMS and CPP was also asked but stress was mainly upon the former , linux was asked too if it was mentioned in the CV it was grilling and easy for some (there were 7 panels) for the non -IT branch the interview was mainly on their project . The written test was very simple.. u hav 3 sections of 50 questions tat needs 2 b answered in 60 mins… remem u hav cut-off for each quest the sections are::15- Verbal15- Analytical 20- Technical For the verbal round, refer gre barrons.. tey ask u ques on analogies, tense, direct and indirect speech.. they give u a passage n ask u to put in the rght order.. tis section was ok.. not very simple to me.. cos I had not referred barrons… The analytical was really simple… refer R.S Agarwal, Verbal and Non Verbal… the topics where direction(something like Anup went 10 mts north, then turned south walked for 20 mts and sum thng like tat), time n distance(sums like very 30mins there is a train from station A to station B, 10 mins before I came a train had left, and at the enquiry they said after 20 mins I hav a train... sum thg like tis..). tey also ask u ques on sentence decoding n coding n sitting arrangements(A is to the immediate rght of B, who is between G and F)… study even average, time n distance, work from R.S Agarwal… Technical was very easy.. im doin my MCA.. probably tats y I didn’t face much problem.. tey ask ques on os, data structure, c, c++, unix and networkin… for technical information, look up to freshers world… go to technical resources in the site… its very useful… Around 77 from my coll were short listed for the interview next day at 1:30…. There were a lot of colleges before us.. so our interview was postponed for the nxt day..The next day, v had it at 12.. the tech interview was held for 20 mins.. My first ques was tell me abt urself. ( he asked me to specify abt my strengths, family, hobbies).. I answered it all.. then he asked me y I had shifted from b.sc mathematics to mca… I told him I wanted to learn a emerging tech n tis would create a path way for me to enter into the it field..He then asked wat wld I do if I find sum other field emergin, wld u jump to tat too… I told him tat I had learnd c programming in my b.sc final year and tats were I got my interest.. then he asked me wat I learnd from maths, which I had applied in mca.. for tat I said logical and analytical thinkin, every problem in maths can b approchd in diffrnt ways n similarly al programs can be approached diffrently…Then he askd to substantiate how i can think logically better than a person who has compltd b.sc comp sc… i did tat well...... then he asked abt al the sorting tech, sql queries(simple ones), pgm in bubble sort n binary search… then features abt java.. my areas of interest and the projects done.. interview was for 20 mins.. Hr was cool… just be confident… the hr will tend to ask u ques very rapid, try to reply promptly(like a rapid fire around).. tey r testing ur reflexes….. be bold to ans all ques… tey also chk ur stress level.. and very imp hav instances to substantiate ur strengths..In 20 mins results were announcd.. If you r selected for interview round than your HR interview will also held just after it without time gap..... Even in my technical round my first quens. was tell me abt urself. .. I answered it all.. then he asked me y Then he come on technical quetions.... I am in eletrical engg. so he asked about power system I think he was not having much knowlege in power system so my fatte was good enough for him...... I had told him abt my summer training experience at NTPC delhi. He asked abt wind power generation and I confidently I said don't know sir ........ then he asked abt any project that I have done... I told yes sir and it was sth abt software so he asked in detail abt it and I answered he also gave me one paper for writting a simple C program....Now in HR interview the first question was again tell me abt your self.(perticularly family background)... then tell me the meaning of you name... tell me why would u like to change your field ....... I answered that sir this IT sector has very fast growth than my electrical core...... and some more fatte........ then he said what the thing most you like in our PPT ..... I answered that sir I always eager to learn and your company provide overnight study facility that will promot me to grow myself faster....... then he said would you like ask any questions from me I asked abt six sigma concept he answered me and said again any more question I asked one more abt electrical work in your company like making software for automatiom of electrical plants etc... I was placed in WIPRO on August 3rd 2006… The day started with a pre-placement talk..it was about 45 minutes…he said a lot bout WIPRO…I was satisfied with the presentation..because…there were many opportunities after joining WIPRO….like they have tie up with BITS, IIM’s etc..so they give us an opportunity to do M.Tech..like this many….After this, immediately there was the written exam…which consisted of 3 sections:verbal analytical technicalthere was sectional cut-off but no negative marking… Verbal was bit easy…it consisted of 15 questions2 questions on meanings2 questions on analogy2 questions on correction of sentence2 questions on opposites4 questions on comprehensive passage2 questions on fill up the blanks with multiple choices1 odd man outOver all…to say clearly..this verbal section will be easy for GRE writers…coz…my other frnds said that..all question were from Barron’s The pattern was entirely changed…only one question was repeated from the old papers n isCANONIZE:SAINT::a)train:athiete b)guard:dignitary c)deify:sinner d)lionize:celebrity answer is D Comprehensive passage was little bit easy…remaining Barron’s will help u… Next was analytical..see frnds..this time..both previous papers and R.S.Agarwal dint helped me…questions were totally talent based..3 questions were too long..even I dint read them..juz guessed…there were 15 questions…2 questions were on divisibility…say…A number when divides with 9, 8, 5, 3 leaves remainder 5,3,6,0..wat is da number…u can do this simply by verifying the options…another was also the same type…One was on Permutation and combinations…my view is that..to be good in all mathematics basics n general thinking…so dat it would become easy… Next was the most tuff one of the exam..analytical…god…Iam from biomedical engineering stream..n all question are from java..oracle..unix..only one question was from C n other one from C++ ..20 questions were asked..gud news is that…wipro management said that…there will be lower cut-of for non-it branches…but this was accepted by them prior to the exam..we informed about this to wipro..on aug 1st… Over all all 3 sections will be given in one paper…n one omr sheet…time 1 hour for 15+15+20 questions…sectional cut of…no negative marking…so guess a lot…I guessed 17 questions of technical…refer barrons..have gud mathematics basics…have a great knowledge in C n C++..it helps u again in interview…I was 50-50 about my result..coz my verbal..was a big doubt for me..Exam was completed by 12:15…results were announced at 1:00…out of 352 members 150 were selected…mine was 3rd batch…interview at 3:30…I then had a mock interview with my friends….at college..i think it helped me a lot..coz..this was the first interview …Then..i came to assembly hall by 3:00 with a formal plain shirt n trouser (frnds don’t wear checks type of shirts)…wid shoes…Our 3:30 batch was called at 4:00…I was the first from our batch…to have interview…I went in with a big smile…greeted him…he had given a shake hand…and told me to sit…I said thanx…he asked..”tell me bout urself”…this went for 5 minutes…then he said that “iam new to biomedical..tell me about it”…I said bout biomedical engineering for 10 minutes…den he said to list the subjects which we had form 1st year…I listed all of them.. he then asked me bout my paper presentation…he was totally impressed…n den..he asked to tell bout each subject for 1 minute…I said it…n den…asked to write a program on swapping..i said I will use strings..he said no n asked to swap a=3 and b=5….bfore I took pen..he said me 2 explain the procedure….i did it perfectly….den asked bout Inheritance…loops used in C…increment and decrement…bout and & or gates..wid truth table…He asked why s/w…I said…doing biomedical was passion…but I want 2 work in s/w field desperately….i think he was impressed a lot…wit dis sentence..he den said any questions…I asked one..n had given me an application for HR round…I was on cloud nine…coz…I was confident dat I will be placed in wipro…Then…Hr was juzz for formal…it was for 3 minutes..he asked—“tell me about urself”…n “tell bout ur paper”…dats allI was confident that..i will be placed in WIPRO…90 were selected for HR…Interviews were upto 10:00 pm….results was announced at 10:40…ohh god….i was one among 66….
